Our scope of activities includes, among others, the cultivation and characterization of microorganisms, microbiological analysis of water, food, and feed, studies on host–microbe interactions, assessment of bacterial drug resistance mechanisms, the use of viral vectors in biological research, and co-culture systems. We also support projects utilizing molecular biology techniques, such as PCR, RT-PCR, cloning, transfection, and gene and protein expression analysis.
One of the Laboratory’s key assets is a collection of over 1,000 bacterial strains, including numerous strains with probiotic potential. We specialize in their isolation, identification, characterization, and long-term storage. Furthermore, our infrastructure is certified as a Class II Genetic Engineering Facility (GMM II) meeting Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) standards, enabling research involving viruses, cell lines, and genetically modified microorganisms.
